Further rain is forecast today which could cause localised flooding across the area.

Several roads are already closed because of flooding, including The Causeway at Sutton, Wash Road in Welney and North Bank between Whittlesey and Thorney.

Significant rainfall is expected this morning and tomorrow and the Environment Agency has already issued flood warnings in Linton, Broughton, Girton, Alconbury and Toft.

To check if you are at risk from flooding please call Floodline on 0845 988 1188 or visit www.environment-agency.gov.uk/floodanglian

In the event of flooding, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service will prioritise its attendance to emergencies where there is a risk to life. Be assured though, that if you are trapped by floodwater or your home is affected, call 999, ask for the Fire Service and you will be rescued.

The police urge anyone who must use the roads to drive to the conditions and at an appropriate speed. Motorists are advised not to attempt to drive through flooded roads or fords. The water is often deeper than it looks and it may be moving fast.

The public are also advised to check the Environment Agency website and weather reports in the media or on the Met Office website.
