Former Neale-Wade Student and Miss Nottinghamshire Great Britain Laura Spies to represent county for national crown

A former Neale-Wade Academy student has earned her place on the national stage after being crowned Miss Nottinghamshire Great Britain 2025.

Laura Spies will now go on to represent the county in the 80th-anniversary grand final of Miss Great Britain, one of the UK’s longest-running and most prestigious beauty pageants.

The 22-year-old left Neale-Wade in 2018 and went on to study at Nottingham Trent University, where she nurtured her passion for community work and public speaking – qualities that helped her succeed in the regional competition.

Reflecting on her journey, Laura said: “Becoming Miss Nottinghamshire Great Britain has been an incredible honour. The experience has already allowed me to grow so much and give back to causes close to my heart.”

As a finalist, Laura has made a significant impact across Nottinghamshire. She has raised more than £500 for Cancer Research UK and made more than 25 appearances supporting local events, businesses, and charitable causes.

“Cancer Research UK is a cause that means a lot to me”, she added.

“My mum was diagnosed with breast cancer last October, so this journey has been very personal. Being able to combine my platform with fundraising and community engagement has been deeply rewarding.”

The grand final of Miss Great Britain promises to be a special celebration of empowerment, legacy, and charity. Contestants from across the UK will compete for the national crown later this year.

Laura hopes her story will inspire others from her hometown of March and across Nottinghamshire to pursue their dreams and support their communities.

She said: “No matter where you come from, your voice and actions can make a difference.”
