PUPILS from March’s Cavalry School had a big surprise when a team from Roddons Housing Association set up a new play fort in the school playing field.

Roddons asked pupils to create the designs for Fort Roddons, the centre piece of its parade float at the recent March Summer Festival.

The creative pupils turned the wooden structure into a historical fort, to go with the historical figures theme.

After the event, Fort Roddons was donated to the school as a ‘thank you’ for their hard work.

Val Spriggs, Cavalry’s headteacher, said: “The children were very excited when they saw the fort and we know that it will be very well-used. We are very grateful to Roddons for donating it to the school.”
