Friday Bridge couple’s return a cause for celebration

A Friday Bridge couple who emigrated to Sydney, Australia, 43 years ago will return to visit their Fenland roots where they plan to celebrate with a party to raise funds for two charities close to their hearts.

Tony and Julie Norman are looking forward to catching up with friends at the event, which will be held at The Elgood’s Stadium on Saturday, August 20, raising money for Macmillan Cancer Research and Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Tony, a former Friday Bridge Junior School pupil, said: “It is not for people to meet me but more for me to meet the many friends I’ve made over the years. It is impossible for us to get around and see everyone so, hopefully, most of them will come.

“I’d like to ask along old school friends, sporting mates and anyone else who may remember me from my younger days. Living so far away from Wisbech I never had the opportunity of reunions and at 64-years-old, well there really is no guarantee of further visits.”

The event will kick off at 7pm with a disco and raffles.
