LEARN MOREMarch Bears rugby team lined-up for a charity match against a team of players from across the country for the annual family fun day in aid of Scotty's Little Soldiers.
Saturday's event is expected to have raised around £500 for the charity set up in memory Cpl Lee Scott (Scotty), a former March Neale-Wade student and a former player with Wimblington football club, which aims to help children of service men and women.
Cpl Scott was killed in a bomb explosion in Afghanistan and his widow, Nikki, set up the charity to help children like hers who are having to deal with the loss of a parent.
Scotty's Barbarians won the match for the second year running. The game was just one of the event's attractions.
Other attractions at the March Rugby Club included stalls, games, bouncy castles and refreshments.
Tanya, who went to school with Scotty's sister Kelly, said: "It was a great day, everything went well we were lucky with the weather and I am really grateful to everyone who supported us.
Now she is starting to organise next year's fun day.
"Everyone said they wanted to do it again next year, so we will be starting to organise that shortly," said Tanya, who said the final figure for the day's fundraising is likely to be around £500.
