There was fun for all the family in a Fenland village at the weekend when the community came together for its 52nd annual show.

Hundreds of people turned out for the Gorefield Show on the playing fields in Wolf Lane on Saturday.

The number of visitors was slightly down on previous years, but show chairman David Newling said he was pleased with the event overall.

He said: “We were really pleased with how it went. We had a little bit of rain, but it didn’t come to anything and everyone had a wonderful time. We’re still sorting out how much was raised but it will go to causes in the village.”

The show featured its usual host of spectacular attractions, including its pony and heavy horse shows, a falconry display and a fun dog show.

There was also a parade of vintage cars and tractors, traditional stalls, a bouncy castle, Farmer Bob’s Barrel Train, and a climbing wall.

The Best Shire in Show was won by Wrangle Emily, exhibited by Mick Bray. The Best Percheron was Hales Matilda, exhibited by Mr and Mrs Fuller, and the best Suffolk was a Suffolk Filly exhibited by Mr and Mrs L Hoskins. The Turnout Class (horse with a wagon) was won by Paul Smith.
