Fundraising schoolgirl Shyla Brown plans marathon around Walsoken for 4Louis Charity
Fundraising schoolgirl Shyla Brown is gearing up for her latest charity effort and has already smashed her target.
Shyla, the eldest child of Blair Simpson and Dean Brown, has already raised thousands for her Peckover School pal Harrison Dodkin and his family in the past couple of years, now she is looking to help another good cause.
The ten-year-old is planning to walk a marathon around her home village of Walsoken on March 22 to raise money for the 4Louis charity in memory of baby Arthur Ryan Lockey, who was sadly stillborn in November.
His parents Sophie and Ryan Lockey are Shyla’s neighbours and she was touched by their loss and wanted to do something.
The 4Louis charity provides memory boxes for bereaved parents like Sophie and Ryan.
On Shyla’s Justgiving page set up by her Mum it explains: “Sophie and Ryan mean the world to us as a family and we want to keep Arthur's memory alive, as well as raise money for the charity that helped Sophie and Ryan whilst in hospital.
The memory boxes provided by the charity are filled with keepsakes such as a child’s hand and footprints, and they also provide support and comfort.
The walk will be Shyla’s second marathon, and this time she is hoping to do it faster than the one she completed last year.
Each memory box costs around £30 to supply, so Shyla wants to fund as many as possible and had a target of £1,000, however, she has already beaten that with £1,217 given on the donations page already.
Shyla is such a caring little girl, and last year her kindness was recognised with an invitation to attend the Princess of Wales’ Christmas Carol Concert in Westminster Abbey.
Shyla and her proud Mum and grandmother Linda Simpson attended the event and were sat almost opposite the Royal family.
