Wisbech funeral director installs defibrillator after a year of fundraising

A Wisbech funeral director has installed a defibrillator outside its premises after a year of fundraising.

W Bailey & Son says the installation reflects the company’s commitment not only to providing compassionate end-of-life care but also to supporting life-saving measures within the local community.

Over the past year, funeral service arranger Charlotte Walford has led the organisation of numerous fundraising events to pay for the defibrillator, including bingo nights, tombolas, and competitions at local fayres.

The project also benefited from a generous donation by the Wisbech Lions Club, as well as a reduced-rate installation carried out by a local electrician.

Business Leader at W Bailey & Son, Lee Nelson, said: “We are dedicated to serving our community in all aspects. While our primary role is to provide care during life’s final moments, it is equally important to contribute towards preserving life whenever possible. This defibrillator will be accessible to all members of the community in case of emergency.

“We would like to extend sincere thanks to Charlotte for her tireless efforts, to the Wisbech Lions Club, the electrician, and everyone who supported the fundraising events throughout the year. Their involvement has been instrumental in making this vital resource available to Wisbech residents.”
