Gallery of pictures from the 20th annual March Summer Festival - rain failed to stop play
Rain failed to dampen spirits as hundreds of people turned out for the annual March Summer Festival parade on Saturday.
Umbrellas were the order of the day but there were plenty of smiles to brighten the gloomy weather as floats and various groups and organisations paraded through the town.
Vintage vehicles headed the parade and Mayor Rob Skoulding with his family also braved the deluge to join in.
It was the 20th annual festival programme and included all the usual entertainment including live music and activities to appeal to all ages and tastes.
It all kicked off on Friday night with Rock in the Park and culminated on Sunday with a performance by Superstition.
In addition to music and dance, the weekend included a children’s fancy dress competition, fairground rides and bouncy castles, children’s entertainment including circus skills, a dog show, and wrestling. There was also a dance tent.
Luckily the weather brightened on Saturday afternoon and Sunday was fine and bright for the annual Picnic in the Park.
One of the other highlights on Sunday was the annual a soap box derby organised by March Lions which saw home-made vehicles take to the track in West End Park.
