Gallery: Vaccine joy for Fenland care home staff and residents
All the residents and staff at The Gables Care Home in Chatteris have received the first part of their Covid19 vaccine.
A further 34 members of the staff team have also received the second part of their vaccine, meaning 80 per cent of staff have received their full coronavirus vaccination.
Lorna Jones, activities co-ordinator said: "We are over the moon to be able to say this, and feel it is a truly momentous day for the home, being able to look forward with a new sense of hope for the future.
“We are thrilled to have received these vaccines as it takes us one step closer to being able to welcome visitors into the home again, and also planning some trips out which have been missed.
"We’ve made sure that throughout the pandemic our residents have been staying in contact with their loved ones in a multitude of ways, including assisting our residents to make video calls to their friends and family. Our residents have truly missed their loved ones and are looking forward to the day they are able to come in for hugs.
"We take great pride that our home has been Covid free since the first lockdown in March last year, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the staff and management."
Julie Tyler, registered manager of The Gables, added: “We feel it is vitally important for staff and residents to receive their vaccine, which makes today extra special."
