GET ACTIVE: Taking the first steps
The weather is warming, and the Spring season is upon us to help put a spring in our step. Let’s continue this motivation forwards by taking the first steps to being more active.
With Covid-19 restrictions starting to ease and a new type of ‘new normal’ around the corner.
In terms of our activity, this may mean an increase as we start getting out and about once more. It is important to remember that increasing activity is a marathon and not a sprint – build gradually and safety.
Seek guidance if required and please keep safe, both with Covid-19 and the activity being taken up.
The key is to find something that is right for you, that’s fun, that fits into your lifestyle and works with your daily routine.
Active Fenland has a few different programmes on offer now and that are starting soon. With sessions for juniors, adults, and older adults we hope there is something you may like to try. All sessions are ideal for beginners, try it outers and returners!
Junior Run Group – Wisbech, Thursday 5.15pm-6.15pm at Wisbech Hockey Astro, £16 for the eight-week block.
Junior Badminton – Wisbech, Monday 5pm-6pm for ages 12-15, and Wednesday 5pm-6pm for ages nine to 11, both held at the Hudson Leisure Centre, Wisbech, £2 per session, paid via course block.
Junior Tennis – March, Thursday 5pm-6pm at Estover Tennis Courts, March, £2 per session, paid via course block.
Buggy Fit – March, Thursday 11am to noon at West End Park, free.
Buggy Fit – Wisbech, Thursday 9.30am-10.30am at Wisbech Park, free.
Adults Run Group – March, Monday 6pm-7pm at West End Park, free.
Adults Tennis – March, Thursday 6pm-7pm at Estover Tennis Courts, £2 per session, paid via course block
Family Mini Court Tennis – Wisbech, Wednesdays 5pm-6pm at Wisbech Tennis Club, free.
Older adult activities
Online Strength and Balance sessions, Thursdays 2pm-2.30pm, free.
Strength and Balance Booklet- a free booklet to help keep active at home. This can be posted to you for free.
For those not ready to join in a session just yet there is still some activity content available to follow, for free, on the Active Fenland YouTube channel.
Find a full series of yoga sessions, HIIT workouts, Bootcamp style workouts and other specialised workouts and information. Please
ensure when undertaking any activity, you do so safely.
