Continuing in the tradition of Lilian Ream, Wisbech Society is launching a photographic competition in association with the town’s Currys PC World store.
The competition theme is ‘What I Like About Wisbech’ and entrants are asked to prepare up to five photographs, each accompanied by no more than 25 words explaining why their chosen subject is special to them.
The Currys PC World store on Belgrave Retail Park, off Cromwell Road, Wisbech, is generously providing prizes for the two competition categories: for photographers up to 18 years old and for those 19 years and older.
In each case the prize consists of a 64GB BlackBerry PlayBook 7in Tablet with a one-year subscription to a 50GB Knowhow Cloud Storage Backup facility.
Neil Winter, manager at the Wisbech store said: “With Knowhow cloud you’ll have your photographs and important moments safeguarded and secured in a remote location for complete peace of mind. Access your files from more or less anywhere thanks to the Knowhow Cloud App, and take your pictures, videos, music and data on the move.”
The winning photographs will be displayed at the store, along with a selection of the most meritorious entries.
Photographs may be submitted from 2 June – coinciding with the Wisbech Festival – and 22 June – Civic Day. Wisbech Society plans to have a stall on the Market Place on both days, selling publications and explaining its continuing work for the town and its heritage. Further announcements will be made in the local press regarding submission details.
