Get your Covid-19 vaccine before spring programme ends

The local NHS is encouraging eligible people who’ve not had their Covid-19 vaccine to get protected before the spring vaccination programme ends on June 17.

More than 60,000 people have been vaccinated across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Royston since the spring COVID-19 vaccination programme started on April 1.

Anyone who’s eligible for the vaccine and has not been vaccinated can still come forward and get theirs. The vaccine is recommended for people who are at higher risk of getting seriously ill from Covid; this includes anyone who is:

-Aged 75 or over (including those who will be 75 by June 17);

-Aged six months to 74 years and have a weakened immune system because of a health condition or treatment;

-Living in a care home for older adults.

Cali Makewell, integrated vaccination service lead with NHS Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, said: “We’ve had a really warm start to spring 2025, and this might make it feel like you don’t need protection from an illness like Covid. But it’s not just a winter virus, and it circulates around our local communities all year round.

“We know that vaccinations continue to be our best form of protection against severe Covid symptoms and hospitalisation. So I would encourage anyone who has not yet had their spring booster to ensure they get their vaccine before it’s too late.”

There is a selection of clinics available across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, some offering walk-in sessions or bookable appointments, as well as quiet clinics for those who need them.

For more information please visit www.cpics.org.uk/the-vaccinators to find a walk-in clinic. Alternatively, anyone who would prefer to book in can visit www.nhs.uk/nhs-services/covid-19-services/covid-19-vaccination-services/book-covid-19-vaccination or call 119.
