Getting ahead for Wisbech Town Council

Wisbech Town Council’s Civic Amenities Committee has decided to deliver or support a number of festivals and events to take place in Wisbech during 2015.

A Festivals Working Party, comprising members and officers of Wisbech Town Council and members of the local community, has been meeting to put in place arrangements for events.

One is the annual Wisbech Rock Festival – this year in Wisbech Park on Sunday, August 2, between noon-8pm. It is to be branded “Still Crazy”.

In addition to live music, there will also be fairground rides, DJ sessions, food and drink and other stalls and activities.

Members of the working party feel it should not only feature acts which are well established but also provide an opportunity to those locally who would like to perform in front of a large audience on an outdoor stage, using a professional, engineered sound system and as part of an event which will feature a headline act.

The term Rock is used in the widest possible sense. To enable the working party to select the acts to perform at the festival, it proposes to “audition” those who would like to be considered.

The “audition” would operate on the basis of the working party members listening to two audio recordings submitted on CD, via a You Tube link or by any other electronic means.

Anyone interested in being considered should submit their recordings to Wisbech Town Council; by post to 1 North Brink, Wisbech, PE15 1JR or e-mail: wisbechtc@aol.com

Recordings should be received no later than April 30 to enable the working party to have agreed a line-up by the end of May 2015.
