It’s gnome joke – a double mystery has been sparked at Peckover House in Wisbech.
A garden gnome appeared at the museum two weeks ago and has since been making his way around the flower beds in the stunning gardens.
Staff have been left scratching their heads over the gnome’s origins and movements around the gardens.
“The gnome suddenly appeared a few weeks ago,” said gardener-in-charge, Allison Napier, “and we still haven’t spotted who keeps moving him around.
“One day he’s in the Red Border, the next he’s by the Orangery. It’s a real mystery!”
Visitors to the house and garden may be able to spot him lurking in the bushes and could maybe help to give him a name.
Peckover House and Garden remain open from Saturday to Wednesday, 11am to last admission 4pm (house opening at midday), until November 1.
