THE River Nene at Wisbech was ablaze with yellow plastic ducks on Sunday when Wisbech Lions held their third annual duck race.

Around 1,300 ducks were released from Freedom Bridge and re-captured at Town Bridge thanks to help from the local Sea Cadets.

The event was held under the supervision of the Harbour Master and organised by the Lions’ activities committee.

Ticket books were distributed to schools and youth football teams as the event will raise money for those organisations.

The Sea Cadets will also receive a donation for their help on the day.

The first duck home for a £200 prize goes to ticket number 573. Second prize of £50 is ticket 478.
