Good rating for Sutton St James playgroup where youngsters arrive ‘excited for their day’
A playgroup where youngsters arrive ‘excited for their day’ has been rated good.
Sutton St James Playgroup was inspected by Ofsted in December.
“Children come into the playgroup in the morning excited for their day,” the report, published this month, said.
“They have good bonds with staff, who greet them with a warm welcome as they arrive.
“Staff create a calm and nurturing space for children where they joyfully participate in singing sessions with staff. Children show that they feel proud and have a sense of belonging.
“Staff create an atmosphere of 'awe and wonder' that in turn contributes to children having a positive attitude to learning.”
The playgroup, based on Bells Drove, has 36 children aged between two and four on roll.
It also rated good in five sub-categories; quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development and leadership and management.
The report also highlighted areas where the playgroup needed to improve, including maintaining children's attention during group time activities and enabling children to fully explore during their play without interruption to their learning.
Sutton St James Playgroup rated good at its previous inspection in 2018.
