Villagers will be able to have their say on possible relocation of Great Bircham war memorial, which was demolished at the weekend.
The memorial, which lies in Church Lane, was hit by a blue Seat Ibizia on Friday night last week.
Police have traced the driver and no arrests have been made but inquiries are continuing.
Great Bircham Parish Council is now organising the rebuilding of the memorial, which could be moved away from its current site on a junction to a green area on the B1153 where there are two memorial seats.
Council chairman Bob Hutchinson said the question will be posed in the next village newsletter which will be going out shortly.
He said: “There are two sides to the argument. Some people feel it is iconic part of the village on that site while others think it is a good idea to move is so people don’t have to go on the road.
“I have some sympathy for the first view but I know which will be best but that is a question for the village as a whole.”
The matter will be discussed at the next parish council meeting.
The memorial was also damaged in an accident some years ago.
More than 20 men from the village died in the First and Second World Wars.
The village also has a wooden roll of honour in the church which also contains the names of the village men who died in the wars.
