A scheme that helped a TV personality to learn to read at the age of 51 is up and running in Fenland and is looking for wannabe readers.

Read Easy UK is a charity organisation that aims to help adults with their reading and was featured in a documentary on the BBC with Jay Blades from the popular day time show 'The Repair Shop'.

Jay spoke openly about the challenges of learning to read and his story was also mentioned on the One Show earlier this month.

The coaches have undergone training in preparation for the task ahead and Susan Edghill the group's publicity organiser said: "We have the coaches ready and willing to help, now we just need readers we can help.

"The sessions will be held somewhere neutral like the local library and are aimed at any adult who either wants to learn from scratch or to improve their reading skill.

"The coaching is free of charge and anyone interested can have coaching on a one to one basis and it is all confidential."

The group covers the whole of Fenland and is not only looking for people who want a helping hand with their reading but with other volunteer roles including a treasurer.

Like all Read Easy groups the Fenland one is financially independent from Read Easy UK, and is responsible for raising all the money needed to keep the group going. If you would like to support its work, get in touch to find out how via the website.
