REFURBISHMENT of the gym at March’s Neale-Wade Community College means the improved facilities will now be opened to the public.
From this week, members of the community can use the gym for £3 a session from 5pm to 9pm week nights and 10am to 4pm on Saturdays.
Sports centre manager, Martin Dawson, said the equipment was “old and tired”.
Students and the community will now benefit from new resistance equipment - chest and shoulder presses, biceps and leg curl machines, a leg press and a lateral pull down machine.
There are two new rowing machines, a new exercise bike and the old treadmill and cross trainer.
The sports centre has been refurbished as part of the multi-million pound Building Schools for the Future programme, which has resulted in a major investment in the Wimblington Road school.
Most of the work was completed last summer, leaving a new sports centre floor and nets and posts to be completed this summer.
The changing rooms have been revamped, the reception area re-designed, there is a new Astroturf surface outside for hockey and football and the social/refreshment areas of the sports centre have also been given a facelift.
