MORE than a few hairs were raised at Outwell on Wednesday at a special event in aid of the village jubilee celebrations.
Mobile hairdresser Sara Kedge, of The Mane Trade, teamed with The Crown pub to host the fundraiser which netted £160 towards helping to pay for the staging of the summer’s jubilee events.
Sara held a ‘cut-a-thon’ asking for donations in return for a hair cut and a few strips were torn off some of the supporters who agreed to be waxed.
There was a ‘wax a postie’ when postman Paul Smith had his chest waxed for £1 a strip, and a customer in the pub also agreed to a leg and chest wax with Sarah Lilley in charge of the waxing.
The village is holding a host of events to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee including on Monday June 4 raft races, an ‘It’s a knockout’, a village fete, traditional children’s races as well as stalls and entertainment.
The organisers are also looking to have an afternoon tea for older members of the community with tea and cakes.
Any money left over from the jubilee fundraising will go towards village hall improvements.
