HALLOWEEN in Wisbech can mean only one thing, little horrors throughout the town and surrounding areas are invited to the Horsefair Shopping Centre’s phenomenally successful Trick or Treat event.
For the past four years youngsters have been enjoying this free event courtesy of the centre, which has even won a nationally recognised award due to its popularity.
The event is designed to offer youngsters a safe environment to Trick or Treat, rather than going out onto the streets at night and this year’s event promises to be even better with more attractions for children.
Nearly all of the centre’s stores will be taking part, giving children an opportunity to pick up even more treats.
Youngsters can come along to the local Police force’s Creepy Crimebuster Bus, situated at the side of the centre’s Greggs store, to collect their map, their first treat and a goodie bag to collect their treats in. The map will direct them to the shops that will be waiting to be Trick or Treated.
The event is completely free for children under 15 years old, who must be accompanied by an adult and dressed in a Halloween themed costume.
Prizes will be up for grabs for the best dressed boy and girl on the day and the Mayor of Wisbech will be judging the costumes at 4pm outside the centre’s Co-op store.
Youngsters will have an opportunity to have a 6x4 photo taken by staff at the centre’s Kodak store for a 99p, in their Halloween costume or with the store’s Mickey Mouse character, in front of the store’s scary wall of blood.
Custard the Clown will be clowning around with those visiting the centre, local band DAVE will be playing some spooky tunes at the side of the centre’s Superdrug store. Plus, youngsters can enjoy a free fairground ride.
There will also be a hook-a-duck stall, this activity is not included in the centre’s free activity.
Speaking about the upcoming event, Horsefair manager, Kevin Smith said: “Everyone at the centre is very excited about the Halloween trick or treat event. We’ve got some new additions to the activities on the day and live music, there’s something for all age groups to enjoy.”
The event will run from 3pm – 5pm on Saturday, 29th October at the Horsefair Shopping Centre.
