A FREE guided walk is set to show off the golden age of Ramsey including the Abbey on Wednesday, August 10.
This guided walk is just one in a series of guided walks and events organised by Cambridgeshire Archaeology throughout the county to encourage people to find out more about where they live.
The walk, which is free and open to everyone, will be led by the local historian David Cozens who will look at the history and archaeology of this famous town. The walk will include Ramsey Abbey itself, which was at various times in the Middle Ages one of the richest houses in the country and was actually known as Ramsey the Golden.
People are invited to join the free guided walk at 7pm on Wednesday 10th August. Please meet outside the entrance to the Abbey Gate House (PE26 1DJ). The walk will last approximately one hour.
Stephen Macaulay of Oxford Archaeology East said: “This is a great chance to discover about the medieval history of Ramsey, David Cozens knows more about this historic town than anyone else I know!”
