Fenland people are being encouraged to play their part in a major review of all the bus services that are currently subsidised by Cambridgeshire County Council.
The review is being carried out by Cambridgeshire Future Transport (CFT), a county council-led programme that is seeking to come up with new ways of providing local transport. These could include amending bus routes and times and establishing community bus and car-sharing schemes.
CFT is launching a consultation that will include a series of “drop-in” sessions in Fenland during October and November when local people will have the chance to comment.
There are eight subsidised bus services in Fenland under review – six in one part of Fenland, two in the other.
The six in the first area are:
9: Chatteris-Ely (school times only)
33: March town service
35: Chatteris-March (school times only)
56: Wisbech-March (school times only)
The drop-in sessions to discuss these are at Benwick Village Hall (October 28, 10am-noon); Manea Village Hall (October 28, 2-4pm); Wisbech Library (October 30, 10am-noon); Chatteris Library (October 31, 10am-2pm); March Library (November 19, 10am-noon).
The two services in the second area are;
50: Wisbech-Tydd St Giles/Tydd St Mary
390: Wisbech-Parson Drove-Throckenholt-Peterborough (weekly service)
The drop-in sessions for these are at Wisbech Library (October 30,10am-noon); Newton Village Hall (October 30, 2-4pm).
Residents can also comment via a transport questionnaire at www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/CambsFT3. Hard copies of the questionnaire will be available in Fenland @ your service shops and libraries. They can also be obtained by calling the CFT team on 0345 045 0675 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
