Villagers in Wimblington are being asked to have their say on new Neighbourhood Plan
It’s been two years in the making but a village’s new Neighbourhood Plan is almost finished – but residents have one last chance to have their say.
Wimblington Parish Council are currently consulting villagers on the plan which started in September 2022 with a questionnaire delivered to every home.
Open forums were also held asking residents and businesses to have an input into the plan which will shape the way the village grows over the coming years.
Those drawing up the plan have spent months analysing responses from locals and these have contributed to the development of the plan and the policies within it.
The parish council said: “It is important that the Neighbourhood Plan has produced what the local community requested, that it exhibits the strongly-felt views our neighbourhood needs to thrive, that it highlights the needs expressed by residents, as well as ensuring that the future of our neighbourhood area remains a historical, rural environment within its own settlement boundaries.”
A second questionnaire has now gone out to every household and is also available online for people to complete to ensure the policies reflect exactly what the people were asking for.
The policies cover everything from protecting the landscape to biodiversity and even provision of energy and water efficient buildings.
Once the Neighbourhood Plan is agreed and adopted it will stand alongside Fenland District Council’s planning policies and it will hold a strong influence in deciding future planning development, the infrastructure and the vision we all wish for within our neighbourhood settlement area.
The draft Neighbourhood Plan is available to read on the Wimblington Parish Council Website and hard copies are available to read:
