He only started running last year now Wisbech's David Kerridge is set for the London Marathon
A small business owner from Wisbech set himself some big challenges to do in his forties and next weekend he is set to complete the second of them.
David Kerridge, who is a Wisbech-based delivery newspaper roundsman, who runs a small business with his wife Alison, is making the headlines with rather than circulating them with his plans to compete in the London Marathon on Sunday April 28.
David said: “I’m 49 years old and wanted to achieve things in my 40s - one was to cycle London to Paris, which I did with my mate Kev Welbourn in 2013- and the other was run the London marathon.
“I only started running last year, starting at two miles and building up gradually. I completed the King’s Lynn Gear 10k and the Great Eastern Run half marathon in Peterborough, which gave me the confidence to attempt London. I am running for PhabKids who help look after disabled children all over the UK. “
David set himself a target of £1,750 but has smashed that already raising £4,200 thanks to the generosity of his family, friends and customers.
He said: “Thank you to my family and friends and especially my wonderful customers who have supported me beyond belief.”
