A Wisbech woman is hoping to put her own weight loss experience to good use and help others shed the pounds.

Aileen Troughton lost four stone in just over a year after being warned by doctors to lose weight so she could undergo treatment for a bad leg.

She is a long-term arthritis sufferer and due to various medication and failing mobility she had gradually put on weight, which in turn made her health problems worse. The turning point came when her right leg gave way and a visit to a consultant resulted in her being told kindly but firmly she needed to reduce her weight by at least 10 per cent before she could undergo treatment.

Aileen joined a local Slimming World group after failing to lose weight quickly enough using other diets. With the support of the Slimming World consultant and fellow group members Aileen shed the pounds hitting her target loss of four stones in 13 months. Her arthritis is much better and she is once again able to enjoy a more active lifestyle.

Now Aileen is hoping her own experiences will inspire others when she takes over running Slimming World’s Leverington group this week. The meetings are held every Thursday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm at the Leverington Sports and Social Club. Contact Aileen on 07803-611888.
