FORMER Wisbech woman and tennis player Heidi Dettinger got an unexpected chance to meet Britain’s current shining light in the tennis world, Andy Murray recently.
Heidi, who is the only daughter of Wisbech businessman Mac Narborough and his wife, Angela, spotted the taciturn Scot as she drove through her home town of Delray Beach, Florida with her husband Eric and their six-month-old son Devon.
Heidi and her two brothers Stuart and Chris are all former Cambs County tennis players and Heidi herself won a bursar to Millford School in Somerset before winning a scholarship to a junior college in Texas and then another to the University of Tennessee at Chattagona.
During her own tennis playing career she faced numerous opponents including Wimbledon champion Steffi Graf.
After spotting the sporting star Eric stopped the car and Heidi managed to catch up with Andy to ask for a photo of herself with him and Devon.
She also took the chance to wish Andy good luck for the summer season and in particular for Wimbledon.
