Holiday firm aims to help Wisbech-based 50 Backpacks bring festive cheer to homeless
This Christmas, The Holiday With Us Group is helping to bring some festive cheer to the area's homeless by supporting 50 Backpacks charity.
50 Backpacks, which is run by volunteers, aims to help anyone in the local community who is struggling with personal issues back to independent living by providing practical help.
This Christmas they are aiming to collect as many backpacks as possible from the local community filled with essential items, in order to deliver them to The Ferry Project in Wisbech in time for Christmas.
The backpacks (or other small/medium bag) will need to be gender specific, filled with essential items for that gender. All items should preferably be new or in very good condition. Items can include; toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, feminine items, warm bedding and sleeping bags. Any food items need to be non-perishable and can include porridge oats, long life milk, sugar, tea and coffee.
50 Backpacks are also asking for male and female gifts wrapped in blue and pink to hand out to the homeless for Christmas.
The Holiday With Us Group are holding drop off points for these backpacks at their branches in Wisbech (33 Market Place, PE13 1DP) and March (1 High Street, PE15 9JA). If you would like to support this fantastic cause, then please drop your backpack donations into one of these offices by December 21.
A spokesman for Holiday With Us said: "Let’s help 50 Backpacks reach their target of collecting 50 backpacks before Christmas."
