THIS year’s Doddington Horticultural Show was a great success, improving on the number of entries yet again.
The 65th annual show, which took place in the village hall, saw a great boost in the number of children’s entries, up from 229 to 306.
The Cookery and Preserves and Handicraft sections were down on entries, but the weather did not seem to have affected the produce sections.
There was a new category in the children’s section, for the Best Overall Home Grown Vegetables. The Irene Short Memorial Cup was created in memory of a local woman who had been a supporter of the show for many years.
The show is open to all local schools and organisers would love to see more entries next year.
