The RAF Swing Wing band will return to Wisbech to help to mark the official opening of the new theatre at the Thomas Clarkson Academy on March 16 at 7pm.
The official opening will be by Wisbech Mayor, councillor Viv MacRae and will be followed by a concert by the band in the evening.
Band Leader, Warrant Officer Garry Stevens said the band is delighted to accept the invitation to return to Wisbech and support the opening of the new facilities.
The RAF Swing Wing is a 20-piece big band which plays in the style of the bands of the 40s,
50s and 60s. Their programme will include popular numbers covering all swing band years, as well as later tunes.
All proceeds from the concert will be donated to the RAF Association Wings Appeal, a charitable appeal that helps in the welfare of both former members and current serving members of the RAF and their dependants
This concert will provide a opportunity to see the band and at the same take a look at the Academy’s new facilities.
