Starting from January, local residents will be able to brush up on their IT skills with a City and Guilds Online Basics course at the Oasis Centre, Wisbech.
The course aims to help people get to grips with basic I.T. skills where they are either beginners or need a refresher on how to do things.
During the two hour sessions, staff from Cambridgeshire County Council’s Adult Leaning and Skills team will show participants how to email, use the internet effectively and stay safe online. Learners can also work towards a City and Guilds Entry Level 3 Qualification in Online Basics and receive help with job applications, job searches and CV writing.
There are two different start dates for the course:
- Course one runs 1.30pm - 3.30 pm on Wednesdays 13 January – 17 February
- Course two runs 1.30pm - 3.30 pm on Wednesdays 24 February- 30 March
Spaces on the courses are limited so anyone interested in attending should call the Oasis centre on 01945461526 to book or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Nyree Scott, Project Manager at Cambridgeshire County Council, said: “The course is designed for people who want to learn the basic elements of I.T. to get them up and running using email and the Internet in a safe way. The courses are friendly and informal and there is a tutor to provide a helping hand. With I.T. now so important in the workplace, people can also work towards a recognised qualification.”
