Jimmy Cricket to light up Wisbech
The switch-on of the Christmas lights in Wisbech Market Place will be an extravaganza with the much anticipated phase two lighting schemes for Freedom Bridge, Hill Street, Post Office Lane and the Old Market – guaranteed to light up Wisbech!
The live entertainment programme kicks off with a new emerging talent, rock band Phoenix Calling, featuring tracks from their debut album, ‘Forget Your Ghosts’.
This is followed by our traditional programme of panto pandemonium with the Angles Theatre and traditional Christmas songs to sing along to! Wisbech Lions are on hand again, helping Santa to hand out free sweets to the children.
New for this year, Santa will have a post box by his grotto for the children to post their letters.
Our lights will be switched on by David Hodgson, Town Mayor alongside comedian Jimmy Cricket.
Before we light up Wisbech, come on down to the Market Place and get into the Christmas Spirit, visit the fairground, or buy some Christmas bargains from local traders.
There will be free mince pies, kindly donated by local supermarkets.
The Grand Prize raffle will be drawn at 5.30pm and the first prize is an Apple iPad Mini 4 courtesy of Tamar Computers, other prizes include dinner for two at Worzals, a Super Festive Hamper, Panto tickets for a family of 4 at the Angles Theatre and 4 Luxe Cinema tickets.
We complete the evening’s entertainment with 1940’s vintage style songbird ‘Lula May’ from BBC’s Land Girls.
Help to light up Wisbech by purchasing luminous wrist bands - on sale throughout the event.
There’s something for everyone so come along on Sunday, November 29, from 3pm! Check out our Facebook Page – Wisbech Christmas Lights Entertainment 2015 - for all the details!
