LEARN MOREExcitement ran high at Rose Lodge in Wisbech where residents and staff made Jubilee-themed decorations and baked up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries for the Queen's Jubilee.
Activities co-ordinator Jane Ritchie helped arrange a celebration for Queen's 70th anniversary on the throne with fun entertainment over the past week.
Over the bank holiday weekend the home held a garden party with entertainment by KJ and the Catt; a Jubilee-themed quiz; a sing-a-long to wartime classics, in the afternoon therer was a box from The Royal Mint for everyone to enjoy and the day ended with a day buffet tea set out like a street party.
Residents watched the Trooping of the Colour with snacks and Pimms and they also watched the service of thanksgiving.
Residents enjoyed an afternoon of horse racing on the Saturday. There was more fun with Pin the Diamond on the Crown and Royal bingo. The whole home came together to celebrate and reminisce about what the Queen means to them.
Megan Jones, general manager at Rose Lodge said: “We’ve all had such a brilliant time celebrating the Platinum Jubilee, it has been such fun. Our staff and residents love the Queen and so they were all so excited to take part. It has been a real collaborative process - thinking about how we wanted to celebrate, planning our activities, decorating the home and creating all the party food. It was so lovely to be able to invite our friends and family to come and join us for a proper celebration too.”
Kitty a resident at Rose Lodge Care Home said: “The Queen is an amazing lady, everyone
wanted to get involved in the celebrations. It is remarkable to think she has been on the
throne for 70 years, such an achievement! I can just about remember the Coronation, I was
very small but I remember the street party we had then and this was just as much fun. We
all wanted to pay our respects and say thank you for all that the Queen has done for this
country.” It was lovely to sit with family and other resident’s family, we haven’t done this for
such a long time and we all had so much fun.
Our varied life enrichment programme keeps residents active, and provides a daily choice of
