Last few weeks to have a say on the future of buses in Cambridgeshire

Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority is urging people to get involved in the bus franchising consultation before it closes in just a few weeks' time.

The 14-week statutory consultation began in mid-August and will end on Wednesday, November 20. It will inform a decision by the Mayor of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, Dr Nik Johnson, on how to reform buses across the area.

Since the consultation started, the Combined Authority has held face-to-face events across the region for statutory consultees and local communities to give people the chance to meet with the consultation team in person. It has also been running digitally with the option to download, print, and post back responses, as well as to access translated copies and large print versions.

The Combined Authority has sought to engage with older people, families with young children, and students and is reminding anyone who has not yet done so to submit their response as soon as possible. Any questionnaires received after the 20 November deadline can’t be counted.

Chief Executive of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, Rob Bridge, said: “With just a few weeks left to go, now is the time to let us know what you think about bus services and how you would like them to be run in the future. Please complete our questionnaire before 20 November to make sure your voice is heard.”

There are still several ways people can take part in the consultation: Online: https://cpca-yourvoice.co.uk/bus-franchising-consultation/ or paper copies or large print versions of the consultation documents are available as well as copies in Polish, Lithuanian, Portuguese, and Urd by emailing: consultation@cambridgeshirepeterborough-ca.go.uk

People can also print out the consultation documents and post their responses. They can call 01480 277180 to receive a FREEPOST envelope.

Once the consultation closes the Combined Authority will compile and publish a report setting out its response to the consultation. The Mayor’s decision is due on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, however, this date may be subject to change.
