Probus Club

The Chatteris and District Probus Club held a Christmas lunch on December 16 at the Brampton Park Golf Club.

More than 20 members with guests attended and had a very good lunch.


All Saints

Winners of the 200 Club are: Mrs A Pruden, £200; Mr R Papworth, £50; Mr T Lemon and Mrs E Goodley, £25 each.


Fenland Family History Society

The group’s next meeting will be held on Thursday, January 28, at St Peter’s Church Hall, Wisbech. Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm talk.

For the first meeting of the New Year the group is pleased to welcome Susanah Farmer, with a talk on “Back to Basics”, followed by help for beginners and a refresher for the more experienced.

The library stand, book stall, etc, will be available. Visitors welcome – £2.

Fenland branch National Service (RAF) Association

The Fenland NS (RAF) Association held their annual meeting at the Oliver Cromwell Hotel, March.

The chairman, in his report, said that membership continues to grow – from 19 to over 30 members.

During the year the branch made three trips and held a lunch, with many varied speakers at meetings.

The chairman and his wife have represented the branch several times at various functions.

Graham was re-elected chairman with Maureen as secretary/treasurer.

Coffee, mince pies and hot sausage rolls were served before the speaker, Rev David Addington, was introduced.

He stepped in at short notice to give a very interesting talk about his 30 years spent on the island of Bermuda. Graham thanked him.

The next meeting is the branch dinner at the Oliver Cromwell Hotel at noon on January 18. Tickets are still available. Please contact Graham on 01354 657686 if you would like to attend.


All Saints’ Church

Vestry Hour is on Wednesday at 6.30pm in the church to arrange weddings, baptisms and banns, etc.

Services this week are 8am Holy Communion and 10.30am Morning Worship. All welcome.

The next coffee morning is on Friday at 10am in the community room in the church. Everyone welcome.

Beavers meet in the village hall at 6pm on Thursday, term time only.

Cubs meet at St Peter’s Junior School on Wednesdays at 6.30pm, term time only.


Wisbech Diabetes UK Group

The next meeting is on Wednesday, January 20, speaker to be confirmed.

Everyone is welcome, there are no membership requirements and light refreshments are available. Entry is free.

The meeting will be held from 7pm-9pm at the Community Room, Tesco Wisbech Extra, Cromwell Road, Wisbech, PE14 0SF.
