FOOD fans lapped up a feast of local flavours in a showcase setting at the launch of Taste Real Food Fenland.
Peckover House in Wisbech opened its doors to 50 people who were helping to initiate a rolling programme of tasty events staged by Taste Real Food, a non-profit making organisation which was established to promote local food.
Food enthusiasts were given a conducted tour of the orangery before going into the barn for a cookery demonstration and a talk about the history of Fenland food by Wisbech Grammar School’s head of food and nutrition, Alison Sloan.
They were treated to a display of traditional dishes being prepared. This was followed by a chance to tuck into a buffet of orange-based food.
The next event is ‘Ghoul school’, a Halloween tour of Wisbech Grammar School, on October 31 and details are available from MTooke@wgs.cambs.sch.uk
