THE first Chatteris Honour Walk in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal has been branded a success by organisers.
The walk around the town raised £587 for the charity appeal and it has been suggested to make it an annual event.
Special thanks went to the committee for setting up the walk, Yvonne Larke for cooking the burgers and Molly Hammerton for serving refreshments.
The branch will be celebrating Armed Forces Day on Saturday with a coffee morning at 10am followed by a short service at 11am at the war memorial.
The service will be led by Leon Jones, the parade marshal and the branch chaplain. The standard bearer, Geoff Clarke, will be in attendance along with branch president Ken Gowler and senior military personnel.
Should the weather be inclement, refreshments and a raffle will be held in the Bricstan Hall.
All affiliated groups, the Women’s Section and members of the public are invited to attend.
