People in the towns and villages will be standing in silent tribute and laying poppy wreaths at war memorials this Sunday as Fenland remembers its war heroes past and present and those serving in current conflicts.
For people wanting to attend and pay their respects, here is a list of the acts of Remembrance and services in the three main towns.
In Wisbech the Royal British Legion Remembrance parade is Sunday November 10. The parade will fall in at 10.30am marching to the war memorial in The Crescent for prayers at 10.50am with silent tribute and wreath laying. The service at St Peter’s Church is 11.15am and afterwards the parade will be inspected in the Market Place.
The Armistice Day tribute on Monday November 11 is at Wisbech war memorial for 11am.
At March, the Remembrance parade will form up on Sunday at Mill View car park at 10am, stepping off at 10.30am with a march through the town centre to St Peter’s Church for a service at 11am. The parade will reform at 11.45am and return to the war memorial in Broad Street for wreath laying.
The Armistice Day Parade in March is Monday November 11 in Broad Street assembling at 10.45am.
In Chatteris, the Remembrance Sunday (November 10) parade musters at 2.15pm outside the library in Furrowfields Road car park. It leaves at 2.30pm. The salute will be taken by Squadron Leader Grinham of the Royal Australian Air Force. Wreath laying at the war memorial is 2.45pm with a service at the Parish Church following at 3pm. Afterwards refreshments will be served in the Bricstan Room.
On the Monday a short service will take place at the Chatteris war memorial at 11am.
