Ramsey Community Radio, the newest radio station to the area, is now in the process of putting together its application for a full-time licence for Ramsey and the Fens.
The station has been broadcasting online since January but is looking at going on FM with an RSL (Restricted Service Licence) for one month to conduct test broadcasts in the near future.
To get the ball rolling with the licence application, Ramsey Community Radio have brought in local radio professional Chris Tibbles who has lived in Ramsey all his life.
“I believe that Ramsey and the Fens really has a place for a new radio station that is broadcast live from studios based here and not in London or networked from elsewhere,” said Chris. “I am honoured to have been asked to join the team at Ramsey Community Radio and I will do my upmost to win them a full-time licence and get them broadcasting from Ramsey to the Fens.”
The radio station is currently in the process of moving into a new building where professional studios will be built for both full-time broadcasting and media training.
