LOCAL MP Steve Barclay this week visited Elgood’s Brewery to launch its 2011 beer festival by pulling the first pint.

Over 1400 people visited the Wisbech brewery over the three day festival to try their range of award winning beers. This represents a sharp increase on the 1000 that visited last year, and has seen 2011 dubbed as the festival’s best year yet.

This success comes hot on the heels of Elgood’s new beer ‘Warrior’ winning the prestigious title of ‘best bottled beer’ from the Society of Independent Brewers.

Mr Barclay said: “Elgood’s is a fantastic local business at the heart of our Community in Wisbech; It was great to open their festival which has fast become a feature in the calendar.”

Belinda Sutton, Elgoods Managing Director added: “We were delighted that Steve could take time out of his busy schedule to help open the festival which has been our best yet.”
