Lottery boost for plan

THE Steering Group working on the Leverington Parish Plan has received a £1,870 boost from the Big Lottery Fund to enable the project to proceed.

The group is made up from volunteers representing village organisations who are preparing a long-term plan incorporating the needs and aspirations of the village.

Progress has been made to complete a questionnaire which will be delivered to all homes to find the views of residents about how they would like the village to evolve.

It is hoped the appraisal questionnaire will be delivered in early September with one week for completion by all members of the household and return.

Collectors will visit every property to collect the forms or it is hoped people can return them to Leverington Post Office and Stores or other addresses given in the questionnaire.

For those unable to do this, a collection will be made a week after delivery and, as it is important that as many responses as possible are received, every completed and returned questionnaire will be entered into a raffle with prizes of £100, £50 and £25.

After the results have been collated and analysed, consultation meetings with the village will be held so that a draft plan can be produced in the autumn.

Now is the chance to start thinking about what the village needs and how it should develop over the next ten years.

Everyone, of any age, can fill in their section and the group is very keen to hear the views of the teenagers.

A barbecue is being planned for young people aged 11 to 18 on September 3 in the afternoon where a short questionnaire will be available relating specifically to the needs of young people.
