Man admits to owning indecent images of children and animal pornography

A man admitted to owning indecent images of children and animal pornography when he appeared in court.

Twenty-eight-year-old Aaron Parry hid videos and photographs in an app on his phone, which he attempted to delete when confronted by police.

The former Lincolnshire resident pleaded guilty to five charges when he appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, having previously denied the charges.

Prosecutor Lottie Tyler said police received information that indecent images had been uploaded to the internet via streaming platform Kick by a user called Parryboy158 on March 13, 2023.

The IP address was traced to a property in Lincolnshire, where Parry had previously lived with a former partner.

Officers then caught up with Parry at a car boot sale.

“He was behaving erratically and playing with a mobile phone,” Ms Tyler said.

“He refused to hand it over. Believing he was attempting to hide evidence, police took the phone off him.”

Officers found the images hidden in a calculator app ‘set up to hide files’, Ms Tyler continues.

Police found 112 Category A images, including 59 videos and 53 stills, 29 Category B images, including three videos and 26 stills, as well as nine Category C images, including one video and eight stills.

Category A images involve penetrative sexual activity, sexual activity with an animal or sadism, Category B images are classed as involving non-penetrative sexual activity. Category C images do not fall into the first two categories.

Police also found 19 videos and one still classified as ‘extreme’.

In police interview Parry said he believed the content had been downloaded from the TikTok app by a 10-year-old girl in his family, who had been using his phone.

However, Richard Boucher, defending Parry, told the court the app used to hide the images was ‘far too complex’ for a child to use.

“On the strength of evidence against him he was very upfront,” Mr Boucher continued.

“He admitted he did download the images.”

Parry pleaded guilty to possessing an indecent photograph of a child (Category C) between August 4 2022 and February 21, 2023, possessing an indecent photograph of a child (Category B) between October 22, 2022, and January 7, 2023, and possessing an indecent photograph of a child (Category A) between August 29, 2022 and February 24, 2023.

The defendant, who gave the court an address of Jubilee Walk, Wisbech, also admitted possessing a prohibited image of a child on December 20, 2023, and possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a dog on December 20, 2023.

Parry had originally pleaded not guilty to the charges and a trial date had been set before he indicated a change of plea.

Mr Boucher added his client had not entered the guilty plea until he discovered the full details of the charges.

“He wants help. He needs help,” Mr Boucher said.

Parry’s case has been transferred to Lincoln Crown Court for sentencing, on a date to be confirmed.
