March beavers have rootin’-tootin time at sleepover
Young beavers enjoyed playing Cowboys and Indians and braved some thunder and lightning when they took part in a themed sleepover.
The 1st March Beavers held the event at the scout hut in Badgeney Road, March, earlier this month – when there was a bad overnight storm.
Organisers said the children even had to relocate some of their tents due to rain water leaking into the scout hut, but they loved every minute.
Beaver group leader Lucy Yorke said: “For many of the beavers, this was the first time they’d had a sleepover. They all coped fantastically and behaved marvellously. They all asked that the next sleepover be for longer!”
Miss Yorke organised a range of activities for the children, including making Cowboy and Indian hats, and teepees, apple bobbing, lassoing, gold panning and knocking down tin cans with crossbows.
They also put up their own tents and watched Pocahontas with hot chocolate and marshmallows, before lights out. The following morning the group of 15 beavers and seven leaders enjoyed a breakfast feast.
