Fenland District Council is backing this year’s “Love Your Local Market” campaign, taking place across the country over the next two weeks (May 15-29).
Cllr Pop Jolley, FDC’s portfolio holder responsible for markets, will be at March Market next Wednesday (May 22) at 10.30am, meeting the traders and discussing the range of new ideas that FDC will be implementing to revive and invigorate its markets. There will be locally sourced food tasting, entertainment and other promotions for the public to enjoy. Other events will be staged throughout the year at FDC’s markets in March, Whittlesey and Chatteris.
Cllr Jolley said: “Our markets are vital not only for what they offer themselves but also as a focal
point for the community and for the part they play in boosting our shops and businesses in our towns.
“Watch out for details of other events that will be coming up in our markets across the district.”
The national campaign is led by the National Association of British Market Authorities (NABMA) and is supported by central Government and the wider market industry. It aims to attract new market traders and highlight the importance that markets play in the heart of the local community.
