Marie Curie Cancer Care is appealing for people in March to volunteer a couple of hours of their time to help raise funds to provide care for people with terminal illnesses.
In the lead up to Christmas, the charity has permission to conduct charity collections at local supermarkets. But, the charity now needs people to volunteer a few hours of their time to make sure vital funds are raised for the Marie Curie Nurses.
“Our networks of Marie Curie nurses do a wonderful job. They work 365 days a year, providing the highest quality nursing care in the homes of people with cancer and other terminal illnesses in Cambridgeshire. This vital service means that patients can stay at home surrounded by loved ones as their illness progresses. Most people want to die at home rather than in hospital and last year alone we cared for over 200 patients in their own homes across Cambridgeshire” said Community Fundraiser, Hannah Steele.
Every hour of care provided by Marie Curie Cancer Care is free to the patient and their family, but for every hour of care costs the charity £20. The charity hopes to raise £7,500 from local collections which will fund 375 hours of Marie Curie nursing care in Cambridgeshire.
