WHILE the clocks went forward for most people on Saturday, they were actually turned back for a while at the GER in March.
It was back to the 1940s as Donna Symonds and Dave Roberts (otherwise known as Dave the Spiv) organised a second successful ‘March into the 40s’ event.
Jive music, costumes, a display and demonstration made the afternoon and evening go with a swing.
It raised £1,600 to be divided between Help for Heroes and the East Anglian Air Ambulance. The Rug Cutter dance group gave dance lessons and a lindy hop demonstration.
DJ Woody played jive music and Lolo Lamour sang songs from the era. People enjoyed dressing up in Forties outfits including some from the forces. There was even an old vehicle on display. Some trade stalls were there including vintage clothing. The organisers want to thank the GER for the free use of the hall.
