Chip shop owner Mark Petrou has been honoured for his work within the industry winning an outstanding achievement award.
Mark, who has one of his of Petrou Brothers Fish and Chips in Chatteris, received the honour after votes from within the frying and food service sectors. He won the Caterway Outstanding Achievement Award presented at the National Fish and Chip Awards, hosted by Seafish.
The ceremony was at the Lancaster London Hotel in London. This new award recognises someone who has made a significant contribution to the industry and has been instrumental in advancing it through innovation, modernisation or hard work.
Nominators spoke of Mark’s work in uniting members of the industry and his willingness to help others.
Paul Williams, Chief Executive of competition organisers Seafish said: “Mark really is an exceptional individual who has done so much good work within the sector.
He has set up industry websites, resurrected trade magazines as well as provided both social and business focused forums where industry professionals can find support and advice.
Robert Atkinson, managing director of Caterway said: “It’s a pleasure to present someone like Mark with the award. His commitment to the industry is an inspiration. He is a real industry stalwart, with a passion for the trade and a self-less commitment to raising standards.”
