Team GB seeks young mascots ahead of 2024 Paris Olympics
With a year to go until the Paris Olympics Team GB is searching for mini mascots.
The Great Britain team is looking for five children to become part of its preparations for the games that take place in France in July and August next year.
From meeting the athletes to sending squads on their way, the mini mascots are promised some memorable moments if they’re chosen to be official team representatives.
Parents and carers can nominate their child to be considered for a role – with all children aged five to 11 and living in the UK eligible to apply.
Following the nomination process, which closes in October, a shortlist will be asked why they’d love the chance to be Team GB mini mascots.
Five lucky youngsters will then be announced in November 2023 before being given the chance to take part in several exclusive sporting-related opportunities before the team depart for the games in 2024.
Parents or guardians can nominate their child to become a mascot by entering their details on Team GB's website.
Carly Hodgson, Team GB head of marketing, said: "We're thrilled to offer children across the nation the chance to be an official Mini Mascot for Team GB. For the first time ever, we're offering kids the chance to be front and centre alongside the team as they prepare for the Games, in a role that we know can be hugely exciting and inspiring.
"The research has revealed just how much of a role our athletes play when it comes to inspiring the next generation of young people to embrace sport and we believe this is a significant opportunity to engage children in all that Team GB and the Olympic Games can offer. Our Mini Mascots will be a huge part of the team as we prepare for Paris 2024 and we can’t wait to discover who they will be."
