TWO friends have added significantly to their fundraising pot before they head to Peru to walk the Inca Trail for Macmillan.
Laura Burgess held a party at Leverington Sports and Social Club which raised more than £1,100 and Vicki Wright put on a ‘Fantastic Fitness Afternoon’ that collected £1,000. They are doing the Peru hike with friend and colleague Alice Goose.
Laura’s friend Clo Bell had her head shaved at the party, which raised a fantastic amount of money. A massive raffle was also held, with prizes donated from many local businesses.
Laura thanked everyone who donated a prize, as well as Leverington Social Club for donating the hall and Curtis Woods who provided a free disco.
She gave a special thanks to the family of Irene Cutler, who donated a cheque to the cause in Irene’s memory.
Vicki’s fundraiser saw lots of people put themselves through four gruelling hours of exercise in aid of Macmillan.
She gave special thanks to Hannah Dawson and the guys from Finesse Personal Training, as the event could not have happened without them.
Vicki has smashed her original target and her fundraising now stands at just over £4,700.
